Inter-Don AB is located in Skellefteå and manufactures and sells electrical equipment primarily intended for industry. We manufacture and sell outlet centers, transformer centers, connectors and work lights. The company specializes in developing customized solutions to best match the customer's needs.
Who are you and what is your role at the company?
My name is Joakim Richtmann and I have been managing the operations of Inter-Don AB since 2015. At most there have been two of us in the company, but since my father's passing I am alone in the company. My role in the company, apart from running the company, is of course a bit of everything as I am the only one in the company. In addition to all administrative tasks, my role in the company is sales, construction and product customization according to our and our customers' wishes.
Tell us about the company Inter-Don AB
Inter-Don AB was founded in the early 80s by my father Hans-Olov Andersson. We mainly design and sell different types of outlet centers and transitions. We work with industries such as LKAB, Boliden, SCA, Stora Enso and others, but also with the subcontractors who work for these large industries, often they need to buy the products themselves because the products that the main customers have purchased are not enough.
We do not have our own manufacturing, but we have a close collaboration with an external company that assembles all products since 2005. It works well so there are no plans to expand the business with more employees. Inter-Don has been around for a long time and has a well-established clientele.
How and when did you come into contact with Nordtrafo?
This was before my time, it must have been in the 90s when my father came into contact with Nordtrafo when we developed a protective transformer in-house.
How did Nordtrafo end up at the top of the list of possible suppliers of transformers?
As I said, we came into contact with Nordtrafo when my father realized in the 90s that there was a need for protective transformers that were resistant to external influences and that were suitable for tough environments and would be easy to move around. Since the Elkulan, the protective transformer, which we designed, developed and produced in-house, was round, a round toroidal transformer was the best fit. Nordtrafo turned out to be the only one at the time who could produce a toroidal transformer in the size required and they are probably still the only ones doing it today.
That's how our collaboration with Nordtrafo began and they are today the main supplier of the transformer-equipped products that we sell.
Has your contact with Nordtrafo led to any changes or improvements?
We have made some minor changes and improvements to the products and there have never been any problems. Nordtrafo has always been accommodating and modified its products according to our wishes.
How do you think the collaboration with Nordtrafo works in general?
I think it works very well, for me Nordtrafo has been there from the start and has worked without any problems during my years as a company manager. The products are of good quality and they are easy to deal with as a company. Inter-Don AB has been a customer of Nordtrafo for a long time and I have never seen any reason to change supplier.
I can truly recommend Nordtrafo as a supplier of transformers.
