Hexatransformer
The hexatransformer is a symmetrical 3-phase transformer where the windings operate under identical conditions.
The transformer is available as dry-insulated, self-cooled for operating voltages up to 1000 V. As well as oil-insulated up to 36 kV.

Autotransformer/economy-connected transformer
A tap-coupled transformer – or autotransformer – is distinguished by sharing a single winding between its primary and secondary sides. This distinguishes it from a classic isolation transformer where the circuits are completely separated. Since a large part of the energy is passed directly from the supplying mains, the autotransformer only needs to handle the actual difference in voltage between the input and output.
This allows the design to be made significantly smaller and lighter than a traditional transformer. The advantage becomes particularly clear when transforming between voltage levels that are close together, such as 400–500 V or 400–690 V.

Since the primary and secondary sides are directly connected, the autotransformer has no galvanic isolation between the networks. For this reason, it is primarily used in applications where sharing the same ground and reference point works well.
